They were a man, his pregnant wife and their three children, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported. According to the report, their tent was hit in Al-Mawasi. The information could not initially be independently verified. Upon request, Israel's army said it was investigating the report.
According to Wafa, a three-year-old child was also killed when a fire broke out in a tent. It remains unclear whether the fire was related to the attack.
The area around Al-Mawasi in the southwest was designated as a humanitarian zone during the war. However, the Israeli military had also attacked there several times in the past. According to the army, Hamas facilities were among the targets.
The Gaza war was triggered by the attack on Israel by Hamas and other extremist groups on October 7, 2023.
