According to a report by the state agency Irna, the Iranian leadership has rejected a second meeting with US representatives. The reason given in the evening was that exaggerated US demands, its constant changes of course and the continued naval blockade of Iranian ports offered "no promising prospects for serious negotiations".

In addition, the reports about a second round of negotiations in Pakistan next week are part of an American media campaign to put even more pressure on Tehran by apportioning blame.

US President Donald Trump had previously announced that a delegation would be traveling to the Pakistani capital Islamabad for negotiations. His representatives would be there on Monday evening, Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform - without giving details of the time zone. Deutsche Presse-Agentur learned from the White House that Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner are traveling to Islamabad.

The Iranian news agency Tasnim also reported, citing an informed source, that there would be no negotiations as long as the US Navy continued to maintain its naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. However, messages had been exchanged in recent days with the mediation of neighboring Pakistan.
