The Oslo-based human rights organization Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) put the death toll since the outbreak of the protests at the end of December at at least 648 on Monday.

"At the same time, unconfirmed reports indicate that at least several hundred people, and according to some estimates even more than 6,000, may have been killed," the organization wrote on the X platform. Some estimates put the number of arrests at more than 10,000, it added.
Iranian state media and activists have also reported in recent days that dozens of security forces have been killed in the unrest.
