According to Palestinian reports, there has been another fatal incident near a distribution point for humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported, citing hospital sources, that more than 28 people had been killed by Israeli army gunfire not far from the distribution center in the Netzarim corridor in the center of the coastal area. The information could not initially be independently verified. The military has not yet commented on the reports.
Last month, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) began operating in the Gaza Strip following an almost three-month-long Israeli blockade of aid supplies. This was intended as an alternative to the UN and international aid organizations. Israel and the USA want to use the GHF to prevent Hamas from appropriating humanitarian aid supplies.
However, the foundation is controversial and there have recently been repeated fatal incidents near its distribution centers. In previous incidents, the army claimed that soldiers had fired warning shots after Palestinians had approached the troops in a threatening manner.
