A US federal court is blocking US President Donald Trump's plan to deploy National Guard troops to the state of Oregon. Judge Karin Immergut in Portland prohibited the deployment of National Guard troops in a further temporary injunction, as several US media reported, citing the court documents.

"We just won in court - again," it was also said on X by California Governor Gavin Newsom, who had gone to court against Trump's order. The federal judge had blocked Trump's unlawful attempt to deploy 300 National Guardsmen from California to the neighboring state. "Trump's abuse of power will not stand."

As a result, the judge made it clear that no National Guard troops could be sent to Oregon from any US state. She had already stated on Saturday that Trump lacked the legal basis to send military troops stationed in Oregon to the Portland metropolis.

As a result, according to Governor Newsom, National Guardsmen from his state were ordered by the US government to leave for Oregon.

Trump justifies the order to send soldiers to large cities by citing crime on the streets - an option available to the president in exceptional circumstances such as war or national emergencies. He is targeting cities governed by Democrats such as Portland or, in the past, Los Angeles in California. Trump is also using the soldiers to contain protests against raids by the ICE immigration authorities.
