"This fall, the Russians are using every day to attack our energy infrastructure," Selensky wrote on Telegram. Moscow's military has deployed more than 300 attack drones and 37 missiles and cruise missiles. According to the report, the infrastructure in the regions of Vinnytsia in the west and Sumy and Poltava in the north-east was attacked.
In the city of Nizhyn in the north-eastern Ukrainian region of Chernihiv, one person was also injured and there was damage. In the Kharkiv region in the east of the country, critical infrastructure and a civil defense unit were attacked. Zelenskyi accused Russia of double strikes in order to injure firefighters and energy suppliers working in the affected area after an attack.
Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin now only understands the language of pressure. There could be strong decisions that help, Selenskyj wrote. That depends on the USA, Europe and other partners. On Friday, Selenskyj wants to receive approval from Trump at the White House for the sale of Tomahawk cruise missiles to his country, which have a range of around 2,500 kilometers.
During the night, an air alert was triggered throughout Ukraine. The day before, there were temporary power cuts across the country due to previous Russian attacks on the energy supply.
Lights also went out in Russia
In the Russian border region of Belgorod, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov complained that there could be power cuts in the Valuiki district following a Ukrainian attack on an infrastructure object. He also wrote on Telegram that one person had been injured. According to Governor Alexander Gusev, there were power cuts in some settlements in the southern Russian region of Voronezh. In the Volgograd region, according to the authorities, drone debris fell on a substation in the Novonikolajevsky district. Work is also underway there to restore the power supply to the surrounding villages.
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for more than three and a half years with Western help. As part of its defensive campaign, it has repeatedly attacked targets in Russia. The damage and casualties are disproportionate to the devastating consequences of Russian attacks in Ukraine.
