During the ceasefire announced for Easter, Russia has accused the Ukrainian armed forces of continuing attacks in its Donetsk region, among others. The attacks were repelled, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced. During the night, there were dozens of drone attacks from the Ukrainian side. Artillery ammunition was fired hundreds of times.

The Russian border regions of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod were also shelled. "As a result, there are deaths and injuries among the peaceful population and damage to civilian buildings," the ministry said in its statement. The authority did not give any figures on casualties.

The information provided by the warring parties cannot be independently verified.

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky had also accused the Russian armed forces of violating the ceasefire ordered by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin for Easter. In contrast, the ministry in Moscow claimed that the Russian military was complying with Putin's orders, but was repelling attacks from the Ukrainian side and responding with return fire.

Putin justified the ceasefire on Saturday with humanitarian considerations at Easter. In Kiev, Selensky called for the ceasefire to be extended by 30 days.
