Kiev/Poltava - Russia has once again hit energy supply objects in neighboring Ukraine in night-time drone attacks before the start of the cold season. In one of the districts of the Poltava region, around 350 kilometers southeast of Kiev, the energy infrastructure was damaged, the governor of the region, Filip Pronin, announced on Telegram. Dozens of households are without power and engineers are working to repair the damage. Fortunately, there were no injuries, Pronin wrote.

According to information from Kiev, Russia deployed a total of 80 Iranian-made Shahed combat drones and two missiles against the neighboring country during the night. According to the Ukrainian military, 71 drones were shot down and a further 6 were diverted by radio interference. Traditionally, the military did not provide any information on the damage caused by the attacks.

Ukraine has been fending off a large-scale Russian invasion for more than two and a half years. The country has been repeatedly hit with drones, rockets and cruise missiles, which are also aimed at civilian objects. Ukraine's energy supply in particular is often the target of systematic bombardment. Around half of Ukraine's energy production capacity has been destroyed as a result.
