Footage showed Russian soldiers already on the eastern edge of Sudzha. The small town is the center of the Kursk region conquered by Kiev. Ukrainian military observers confirmed the comparatively rapid Russian advance. Official bodies in Kiev did not comment on the events.
Last August, Ukrainian units unexpectedly captured a large part of the Kursk border region. However, according to Ukrainian estimates, more than three quarters of the original 1,200 square kilometers are already back in Russian hands. Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for more than three years with Western help.
