In the Belgorod region, two people had already been killed in the evening in various attacks near the border with Ukraine, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on Telegram.

Russian Telegram channels also reported explosions in several regions of the country, citing eyewitnesses. The governor of the Lipetsk region, Igor Artamonov, wrote of a fire at a factory site in the Usman district following a drone attack, but did not give any details.

According to the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, 129 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over Russian territory and the annexed Crimean peninsula, most of them over the Bryansk, Belgorod and Yaroslavl regions. The Ministry of Defense traditionally does not provide any information on the consequences of the attacks.

Ukraine has been defending itself against Russian aggression with Western help for almost four years. As part of its defensive campaign, it has repeatedly attacked targets in Russia. The number of victims and the extent of the damage are disproportionate to the destruction caused by Moscow's armed forces in Ukraine.

In Tver in north-western Russia, one person was killed in a gas explosion in an apartment, according to preliminary information from the acting governor Vitaly Korolyov. He had initially stated that the fire had been caused by falling drone debris. In Russia, there are frequent explosions of gas pipes in residential buildings, causing serious damage and casualties. The cause is often attributed to dilapidated pipelines or inadequate maintenance of the infrastructure.
