Politics Russia reports capture of further locations in Ukraine
According to its own statements, the Russian military has captured another village in Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, the Army Group Center had managed to capture the village of Sokil through active action and improve its tactical position. The Ukrainian side initially did not comment on this. It is often impossible to independently verify the reports of the warring parties.

However, the Deepstate portal, which is close to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, had already marked the small spot directly next to the much larger and long-contested village of Ochersetyne as being under Russian control at the end of June. Sokil, which had just a few dozen inhabitants at a census 20 years ago, is located in the Pokrovsk district. Pokrovsk is considered one of the possible targets of the Russian advance in the region. Russian troops were able to advance there after the fall of the fortress of Avdiivka in recent months.
A little further north, Russian troops recently reported the capture of a district of the heavily contested city of Chasiv Yar. Independent military bloggers have since confirmed the capture. However, they emphasized that the entire city is not yet under acute threat of falling.
