According to their own statements, the Russian armed forces have recaptured three more locations occupied by Ukrainian troops in the Kursk border region.

These are the villages of Kositsa, Malaya Loknya and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense in Moscow. In addition, three Ukrainian counterattacks were repelled.

Russian troops had stepped up their attacks in the border region with Ukraine at the end of last week and made ground gains. The logistics of the remaining Ukrainian units have been severely disrupted by constant Russian shelling and drone attacks.

Observers assume that the areas unexpectedly occupied by the Ukrainian army in August last year will soon be completely lost. According to Ukrainian military observers, only less than 300 square kilometers of the original 1,200 square kilometers are still under Kiev's control.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for over three years.
