Cantonal vote SH Schaffhausen voters do not want lower taxes for electric cars
In the canton of Schaffhausen, taxes for electric vehicles will not be reduced for the time being. Voters have clearly rejected a new calculation model for road tax with 60.4 percent of votes against.

A total of 18,632 Schaffhausen residents voted against it, while only 12,205 voted in favor of the new system. 62% of voters took part in the vote. According to an example from the canton of Schaffhausen, taxes for a current Tesla model would have fallen from 324 francs to 100 francs.
Even for significantly heavier and more powerful electric cars, only the minimum amount of CHF 100 would have been due. By contrast, taxes would have risen for combustion engines in the longer term. The voters thus followed the SVP's voting recommendation.
