A few days before the planned meeting between US President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi sees this as a new attempt by Moscow to deceive the US. "We understand the Russians' intention to deceive America - we will not allow that," said Selensky in his evening video address. He appreciated Trump's determination to end the war. Nevertheless, the only reason for the continued killing in Ukraine is Putin's desire to wage war "and manipulate everyone he comes into contact with".

Zelensky indirectly emphasized that he would not accept a deal sought by Trump to swap territories. "We will defend our country and our independence at all costs," he emphasized. And everything that concerns Ukraine must be decided with the participation of Ukraine.
Nevertheless, Ukraine and its partners are aware of the dangers. "Everyone can see that Russia is not taking a single concrete step towards peace, not a single step on land or in the air that could save lives." Further sanctions and pressure are therefore necessary. "It needs strength - above all the strength of the United States, the strength of Europe, the strength of all the nations of the world that want peace and calm in international relations."
