According to Ukrainian reports, 11,000 North Korean soldiers have already arrived in the Russian border region of Kursk. "We see an increase in North Koreans, but we do not see an increase in the reaction of our partners. Unfortunately," said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in his evening video message. His statements are based on information from Ukrainian intelligence services. Kiev assumes that the North Korean soldiers will soon be deployed on Russia's side in the war against Ukraine.

Selensky nevertheless described the Ukrainian advance towards Kursk, which began in August, as a success. A "protection zone" had been created along the Russian-Ukrainian border and new Russian prisoners had been taken for a possible future exchange. "This has helped a lot in freeing our people from Russian captivity," the President emphasized. According to observers, the Ukrainian army is suffering increasing losses of men and material in the operational area on Russian territory.

Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for more than two and a half years.
