According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, dozens of people have been injured and at least two killed in new Russian airstrikes in Ukraine. "My condolences go out to their families and loved ones," the head of state announced on social media this morning. Russia had once again used more than 200 drones against Ukraine. The areas affected were Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Khmelnytskyi and Odessa. Selensky again called for more help from the allies.

"This week alone, more than 1,300 attack drones, around 1,050 glide bombs and a total of 29 missiles of various types were used," Selensky continued. "That's why Ukraine needs even more protection - especially more missiles for air defense systems." This was also promised by the allies, according to a video that Zelensky published with images of the damage and consequences of the Russian attacks.
Selensky once again accused Russia of deliberately delaying the diplomatic process to end the war. In addition to more support for Ukraine, more pressure is also needed on Russia. Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian war of aggression for almost four years now.
Russia deliberately attacks energy infrastructure
Russia is attacking Ukraine on a daily basis, especially its energy infrastructure. The result is widespread power and heating outages. Moscow also wants to increase the pressure on the country to agree to a peace plan on Russian terms. Kiev rejects this.
"The situation in the energy system remains difficult, but we are doing everything we can to restore all services as quickly as possible," said Selenskyj. The repair teams are working around the clock under severe winter weather conditions.
Following Ukrainian counter-attacks in Russian regions, emergency services are also battling power outages there. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported 63 Ukrainian drones shot down in the morning. As in most cases, the ministry did not provide any information on hits or damage. The damage and the number of victims on the Russian side are significantly lower than on Ukrainian territory.
