According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, a document on security guarantees from the USA for Ukraine is ready to be signed. The document is "100 percent" ready, said Zelenskyi at a press conference with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda and Polish President Karol Nawrocki in Lithuania. Kiev now expects its partners to be prepared to name a place and time for the signature, after which the document will be sent to the US Congress and the Ukrainian parliament for ratification.

Selenskyj was in Lithuania on Sunday and took part in events there to mark the 163rd anniversary of an uprising against the Russian Empire. Ukraine also expects security guarantees from its European partners. Zelensky mentioned the so-called coalition of the willing consisting of countries supporting Ukraine. Admission to the European Union would also be a security guarantee for his country.
Territorial issues remain sensitive
Zelensky also spoke about the negotiations in Abu Dhabi. There, Ukrainian and Russian negotiators, with the USA acting as mediator, negotiated for the first time in months on Friday and Saturday about an end to the war in Ukraine, which has been going on for almost four years. A 20-point plan to end the war and problematic issues, which had become fewer in number, were also discussed.
Selensky, however, spoke of "different fundamental positions" of Kiev and Moscow with regard to the territory of Ukraine. The USA is trying to find a compromise in the negotiations, but everyone must be prepared to do so, he said. Among other things, Russia is demanding that Ukraine cede territory in order to end the violence. Above all, Ukraine rejects a withdrawal from areas not occupied by Moscow's armed forces.
