Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has once again accused Moscow of attacking Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. Following attacks with more than 650 drones and 51 missiles and cruise missiles, there were casualties and destruction, he wrote on social media. The main target was once again the country's energy infrastructure. Russia wanted to harm millions of Ukrainians and fired missiles at peaceful cities on St. Nicholas Day, said Selensky. He called for renewed pressure on Russia.

The main building of the Fastiv train station in the Kiev region had been burned down. "From a military point of view, this attack was pointless," said Selensky. Companies and residential buildings were attacked in the Kiev region. There were also attacks in the regions of Dnipropetrovsk in the east, Chernihiv in the north, Zaporizhia, Odessa and Mykolaiv in the south, as well as in the regions of Volhynia and Lviv, which border Poland.

Due to the Russian air attacks on Ukraine, Poland had fighter planes take off. Air defense systems were also put on standby, as reported by the Supreme Command of the Armed Forces on Platform X.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko wrote on Telegram that at least eight people were injured in Ukraine, three each in the regions of Kiev and Dnipropetrovsk and two more in Lviv (Lviv) in western Ukraine. The utility company Ukrenergo announced that there were emergency power cuts in several regions of the country due to massive missile and drone attacks on the energy infrastructure.

Moscow speaks of reaction

The Ministry of Defense in Moscow spoke of an attack on Ukraine's military-industrial complex and energy facilities - in response to alleged Ukrainian strikes against civilian objects in Russia. As part of its defensive campaign against the Russian invasion, Ukraine has repeatedly attacked targets in Russia. However, the number of victims and the extent of the damage in Russia is disproportionate to the destruction caused by the Russian military in Ukraine. Kiev is primarily targeting the Russian oil and gas industry, which Moscow uses to finance its war of aggression.
