Ukraine is increasingly relying on long-range missiles and drones of its own production to defend itself against Russian aggression. Until now, these concepts were science fiction, "today they are reality", said President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in Kiev.

While honoring deserving Ukrainian scientists, he mentioned the new Paljanytsja drone with jet propulsion, among other things. It was reportedly used for the first time in August. "The Palyanytsya missile has gone into mass production," he said.
"The Peklo drone missile has successfully completed its first combat mission," he continued. Last week, the army officially received the first delivery of these aircraft with a range of around 700 kilometers.
Anti-ship missile "Neptune"
Selensky also spoke of successful tests of a missile with the designation Ruta. Nothing is yet known about its characteristics. "The Neptune long-range missile will soon become a terrible reality for the crews," said the President. Ukraine sank the Russian cruiser "Moskva" with this self-developed anti-ship missile shortly after the start of the war in April 2022. Since then, Ukraine has continued to develop the weapons.
The attacked country is dependent on these home-made systems because Western weapons with a longer range are only supplied in small quantities. These systems are also often subject to deployment restrictions, which have only recently been relaxed or lifted in the case of the ATACMS missiles from the USA and the Storm Shadow/Scalp missiles from the UK and France. The Russian arsenal of missiles and cruise missiles is much larger.
