Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denies Russian successes on several fronts in the east of the country. "Pokrovsk, the enemy has had no successes here in recent days," said the head of state in Kiev. Up to 30 percent of the battles on the front are taking place in the Pokrovsk area in the Donetsk region. "You understand how difficult it is for our (soldiers)," the president emphasized. In nearby Dobropillia, the initiative is still on the Ukrainian side. The front sections of Lyman, Kramatorsk and Kostyantynivka have not seen any noticeable change.

In the neighboring Kharkiv region, there are only around 60 Russian soldiers left in the city of Kupyansk, according to Zelenskyi. "We will clean everything up," promised the President. There is already a deadline for the completion of the operation.

Russia's head of state Vladimir Putin had repeatedly spoken of Ukrainian soldiers being surrounded in Pokrovsk and Kupyansk. Kiev has always rejected this, but at least acknowledged a difficult situation for the grouping near Pokrovsk. However, Ukrainian soldiers had also confirmed to local media that the miners' town would be almost impossible to hold.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for more than three and a half years.
