After the unprecedented scandal with US President Donald Trump in the White House, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasizes his great appreciation for the help of the US in the defensive war against Russia. "Of course we know the importance of America, and we are grateful for all the support we have received from the United States," said Zelenskyi in his video message released the night after the summit in London.

He added: "There has not been a day when we have not felt gratitude. It is gratitude for the preservation of our independence - our resilience in Ukraine is based on what our partners do for us - and for their own security."

During the scandal in the White House on Friday, Trump and his Vice President J.D. Vance accused Selensky of making serious accusations in the Oval Office, including a lack of gratitude. Trump also said that Selenskyj could come back when he was ready for peace.

Selensky: Security guarantees are the key to peace

In response, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Zelenskyi should find a way to restore his relationship with Trump. This was important for the future. Selensky had not only thanked the USA for its help in previous years, but also after the scandal.

Selensky continued in his video message: "What we need is peace, not endless war. And that's why we say that security guarantees are the key." So far, Trump has not been persuaded to commit to security guarantees.

Selensky emphasized that after the summit in London, everyone agreed on the most important issue: "For real peace, we need real security guarantees. And that is the position of the whole of Europe - the whole continent: the United Kingdom, the European Union, Turkey."
