Israel Seriously injured after knife attack in Tel Aviv

A man has been seriously injured in a knife attack in the center of the Israeli coastal metropolis of Tel Aviv. The victim was taken to hospital, according to a spokeswoman for the clinic treating him. He had suffered a stab wound to his upper body but was responsive, explained the Magen David Adom rescue service.

A passer-by had shot at the suspected attacker, the police said. According to Israeli media, he was killed in the process. The suspect was a 19-year-old Palestinian from the West Bank town of Tulkarem. The background to the attack initially remained unclear. Police said that a large number of officers were on the scene and were also searching the area by helicopter.
