The Solothurn parties are sticking to their candidates for the cantonal council elections: SVP, FDP, Center, SP and Greens are entering the second round of voting in the same way as they started the first round.

The first round of voting last Sunday had - surprisingly - not yet produced any winners. None of the eight candidates for the five-member government of Solothurn were able to clear the hurdle of an absolute majority.
After a day of deliberation, it is now clear that the starting position for the second round of voting has not changed. All eight candidates for the cantonal government will run again on April 13, as the parties decided at their meetings.
The FDP, which wants to retain its two seats, is entering the race with Peter Hodel (incumbent) and Marco Lupi (new). The Center Party will enter the second round of voting unchanged with Sandra Kolly (incumbent) and Edgar Kupper (new), while the SP will have Susanne Schaffner (incumbent) and Mathias Stricker (new). The Center and SP both want to win a second seat.
The Greens want to defend their seat with Daniel Urech. As expected, the SVP, which has never been represented in the government before, is still backing Sibylle Jeker, who finished fourth on Sunday, just behind the three incumbents.
