According to South Korean reports, North Korea has once again tested several ballistic missiles.

The missiles were fired in an easterly direction, the South Korean military announced early this morning, according to the Yonhap news agency. More precise details on the number and type of missiles were not initially known.

The Japanese Ministry of Defense in Tokyo also reported the launch of a suspected ballistic missile by North Korea. Japanese sources initially spoke of a single missile.

The country had only fired a ballistic missile on April 8 after launching several short-range missiles. According to several UN Security Council resolutions, North Korea is generally prohibited from firing ballistic missiles.
