With the position paper "Not about us without us. Inclusion now!", the SP states that it is committed to the inclusion of people with disabilities both internally and externally. This includes comprehensive accessibility, a self-determined life with sufficient assistance and protection from violence and discrimination.
"It is not these people who are the problem, but a society that constantly hinders these people and puts new barriers in their way," said Co-President Mattea Meyer to the delegates. The SP stands for exactly the opposite. For equal and equal participation in life and a self-determined life.
Numerous forms of discrimination against people with disabilities still exist, it was said at the party conference. This is despite the fact that the Disability Equality Act came into force in 2004 and Switzerland committed to an inclusive society by ratifying the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2014.
