She has realized this exhaustion over the last few days, Meyer said on Instagram on Sunday. She felt that she had to pull the emergency brake. "It's the only way I can continue doing what I love so much - being a National Councillor and Co-President of the SP Switzerland." This step was very difficult for her, but she will be taking a break from now on and will therefore not be taking part in the winter session, which begins on Monday.
The 38-year-old is asking for "peace and quiet and time" to recuperate in her private life. At the same time, she emphasizes that the SP can count on a strong team during her absence. She is looking forward to working for a social Switzerland again afterwards. It is not clear from the post when this will be.
Meyer has been Co-President of the SP Switzerland with Cédric Wermuth since 2020. The SP co-president commented on the post with a heart, as did numerous other followers.
