Society Spitex services provide more hours of care than ever before

In 2024, Spitex services provided more care than ever before. Around 424,000 clients benefited from 25.6 million hours of care.

This is the largest increase since 2011, the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) announced on Tuesday. The increase is primarily due to the growing number of services offered by for-profit companies.

Compared to the previous year, providers provided almost a quarter more hours of care with a quarter more employees. The number of clients grew by around a fifth.

Nursing homes were also very busy in 2024. Especially in western Switzerland. The occupancy rate there was over 97%, as the latest FSO healthcare surveys show.
