Sweden is helping Ukraine in its defense against the Russian war of aggression with its largest military aid package to date.

The 19th package is worth almost 16 billion Swedish crowns (1.4 billion Swiss francs), announced Defense Minister Pål Jonson at a press conference in Stockholm.

This means that Sweden is supporting Ukraine militarily with around 29.5 billion crowns this year.

Europe must shift up a gear in its support for Ukraine, demanded Jonson's ministry. Continued and increased support for the Ukrainians is crucial for European security.

Ukraine has great needs on the battlefield and has requested support for air defense, artillery, satellite communications and the navy, among other things. In view of these needs, Jonson said that the new package would involve the purchase of around nine billion crowns worth of new defense equipment from Swedish and other European defense companies, which would then be passed on to Ukraine.
