According to the state news agency Sana, there have been violent explosions in the Syrian capital Damascus. A loud bang was heard in a western district of the city. Eyewitnesses told the German Press Agency that three explosions were heard. Part of a building collapsed. Security forces had cordoned off the area.

Sana reported, citing a military spokesperson, that it was an attack. It had been carried out with rockets. They were fired from a mobile launch platform. It is not yet clear who is behind the attack. The relevant authorities are working to clarify the background. According to Sana, one woman was slightly injured.
