As a further sign of national solidarity, the church bells will ring throughout Switzerland next Friday at 2 pm. A minute's silence is also planned at this time, said the President of the Swiss Confederation in interviews with the SonntagsBlick and SonntagsZeitung newspapers. "In this moment of reflection, all people in Switzerland can personally remember the victims of the disaster," he said.

The minute's silence and the ringing of the church bells will take place at the same time as the start of the funeral service in Crans-Montana. An official memorial ceremony in honor of the victims of the fire is planned in the Valais municipality on 9 January, as the municipality wrote on its website. Parmelin will be attending with a delegation from the Federal Council, he told the SonntagsZeitung newspaper.
