Olivier Curty and Jean-Pierre Siggen, two long-standing members of the Fribourg cantonal government, are stepping down at the end of the legislature. Economic Affairs Director Curty has been a member of the government since 2017, Finance Director Siggen since 2013.

This means that three Fribourg councillors will soon be stepping down, as Jean-François Steiert also recently announced his resignation. The general election in the canton of Fribourg will take place on November 8.

In a communiqué issued by the State Chancellery on Friday, Curty said that although he was passionate about his work in the cantonal government, he now wanted to turn over a new leaf and run for the National Council in 2027. Siggen explained that the time had now come to leave his seat to someone else.
