Following the serious traffic accident with eight fatalities in the Thai capital Bangkok, investigators are making accusations against the driver of the train that rammed into a bus. The driver was proven to have been under the influence of drugs and did not have a valid driver's license, Thai media reported, citing local authorities.

The freight train hit the bus on Saturday afternoon near Makkasan station as it was crossing the tracks. The bus was swept away and rammed into several cars and motorcycles, causing them to catch fire. Photos showed thick clouds of smoke and burnt-out vehicles. Around 30 people were injured.

According to the Bangkok Post, the transport authority has now ordered mandatory alcohol and drug tests for all train employees. In addition, investigations have been announced against supervisors who allowed the 46-year-old train driver to drive the train. The driver has since been suspended.
