According to the US President, the meeting between Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi did not result in a breakthrough to end the war in Ukraine. There is "still a way to go", he told reporters in the Swiss Alpine resort of Davos.

It had been a good conversation with Selensky. We will have to see how the talks between his negotiator Steve Witkoff and Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin go this evening in Moscow. The message to Putin was: "The war must stop."
Selensky also spoke of a good meeting. They talked about air defense and "documents". This probably refers to the planned agreements on security guarantees and the reconstruction of the country.
Presidential meeting lasted one hour
The first meeting between the US President and Selenskyj this year lasted about an hour, according to both sides. Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner are expected to meet with Putin in Moscow in the evening. Afterwards, Witkoff says he will travel on to Abu Dhabi, where military and business leaders will continue negotiations.
