US President Donald Trump has called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a dictator. "As a dictator without elections, Zelenskyi had better act fast or he will have no country," the Republican wrote on Truth Social. In the meantime, negotiations with Russia over an end to the war would continue.

Trump accused Zelenskyi - as he had done the day before - of performing his task poorly. The Ukrainian president had done a "terrible job" and now probably only wanted aid to continue flowing to Ukraine, Trump claimed. He also indirectly blamed the Ukrainian for the deaths in the country attacked by Russia.
Poll ratings as a criterion?
The Republican once again accused Zelensky of opposing new elections despite allegedly poor poll ratings. In Ukraine, martial law suspends elections during a war. Zelensky's powers are therefore not in doubt. There is also a broad consensus in the country not to vote as long as there is shooting and the participation of soldiers and refugees at home and abroad would be difficult.
Selenskyj had previously rejected Trump's accusations about his allegedly low approval ratings. "If someone wants to replace me right now, then it won't work right now," emphasized Zelenskyi at a press conference in Kiev, referring to approval ratings of over 50 percent in several polls. Values of four percent are Russian disinformation, he said.
