US President Donald Trump has described his talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi as a "good meeting". We will now see what happens, Trump said. When asked whether Zelenskyi was prepared to give up the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, Trump said, according to the accompanying press: "I think so." The topic came up briefly during the meeting. Addressing Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, the Republican said that he should stop shooting and make a peace deal.

Trump had met with Selensky on Saturday on the sidelines of the funeral service for Pope Francis in Rome. On his return journey to the USA, he accused Kremlin leader Putin of possibly not seriously wanting to end the war - and threatened Russia with new sanctions. Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian war of aggression for more than three years.
