US President Donald Trump has once again been photographed with a bruise on his hand. Pictures of the reception for South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at the White House showed a clear bruise on the 79-year-old's right hand.

Bruises on Trump's right hand have been noticed several times in the past - some of them apparently covered up with make-up. At the weekend, the US portal "Daily Beast" also reported on images of the president playing golf, in which a corresponding discoloration can also be seen on his left hand.

The spots had repeatedly triggered speculation about the Republican's state of health in recent months - in addition to the fact that his legs sometimes appeared swollen. Trump himself explained a bruise on his right hand in December 2024 in an interview with the US magazine "Time" by saying that he simply shakes a lot of hands.

In July, his spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt also referred to frequent handshakes and taking aspirin. She has now made similar comments to the "Huffington Post". In addition, the White House announced in July that Trump suffers from chronic venous insufficiency - a harmless disease of the leg veins that occurs mainly in older people.

One of the peculiarities of politics in the USA is that presidents regularly provide public information about their state of health - not because it is required by law, but because it has developed into a ritual over the years that hardly any office holder can avoid.
