The US government is continuing its fight against what it sees as left-liberal universities with several decrees on their funding. President Donald Trump, for example, signed a decree targeting foreign donations to universities. There are suspicions that universities such as Harvard are violating laws on the disclosure of foreign donations, explained a Trump staff member at the presentation of the decrees.

The new decree is intended to ensure that universities disclose all foreign funds that flow into their institutions in order to protect "national and security interests". This is intended to protect the "market of ideas" from foreign-funded propaganda.

Another decree is intended to oblige universities to admit students based on their performance and not on "woke" criteria. According to the decree, the US government wants to reform the accreditation system for universities so that they can focus on "offering high-quality academic programs... "

Trump's government is cracking down on universities that it accuses of having a left-liberal stance. Above all, Trump rejects university diversity programs that are intended to counteract historical discrimination against blacks, women and other disadvantaged groups.

The elite university Harvard is particularly in the spotlight. It refuses to submit to far-reaching demands from the US government. As a result, Trump has frozen billions in funding.
