The outdoor ceremony at the White House on the national holiday was accompanied by an air show to honor the pilots of the recent US "Midnight Hammer" attack on Iranian nuclear facilities. Among other things, a B-2 stealth bomber - the type of aircraft used by pilots to transport the bunker-busting bombs to Iran - could be seen in the skies of Washington.
Trump spoke to invited guests in the presence of his wife and First Lady Melania about the successes of his presidency. He said: "The world respects us again."
Following his speech, he signed the "Big Beautiful Bill", which Trump had been pushing for months. The President sat down at a table set up in front of the White House. The House of Representatives passed the bill on Thursday after a long struggle in Congress.
Independence Day is one of the most important non-religious national holidays in the United States. Celebrations take place everywhere, everything is decorated in the colors of the US flag - and there are fireworks. On July 4, 1776, British colonies declared their independence from Great Britain and paved the way for the founding of the United States. Security precautions were in place in Washington around the White House - there were many barriers and police cars in the side streets.
At the heart of the bill, known as the "One Big Beautiful Bill", is the permanent extension of tax breaks from Trump's first term in office. New tax cuts are also planned. For example, a tax on tips and overtime up to a certain amount is to be abolished.
The law provides for more spending on US defense and border protection, while other areas are set to see major cuts - such as social benefits. There is particular criticism of the planned cuts to the US healthcare system Medicaid. The state program supports low-income earners and people with disabilities.
