US President Donald Trump's security adviser assumes that Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyi will sign a raw materials agreement with the USA. "You see, that's the bottom line: President Selenskyj will sign this agreement. And you'll see that very soon," said Mike Waltz at the right-wing conservative CPAC conference near the US capital Washington. Trump is a "dealmaker", Waltz continued. It was also Selenskyj who proposed a partnership last year.

Trump links US aid for Ukraine, which is under attack from Russia, to access to its rare earth reserves. The deposits are considered economically lucrative and strategically important. However, Selenskyj rejected an initial draft agreement from Washington. According to reports, the USA demanded 50 percent of the income from these raw materials and wanted to be paid back for the military aid provided to date.
