On Monday night, three police officers were killed during an operation against suspected IS members in the western Turkish city of Yalova. Eight other police officers and a security guard were also injured in the incident, according to Yerlikaya.

IS maintains networks and logistical structures in Turkey. In recent weeks, Turkish media have reported on the action taken by security forces against more than a hundred suspected IS members who are said to have planned attacks on Christmas and New Year celebrations.
