The foreign ministers of several countries in the Middle East will meet on Monday to discuss possible steps in the Gaza peace process, according to Turkish sources. The meeting in Istanbul will be attended by ministers from the eight countries that were also involved in the consultations with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Debate, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said. There has been no confirmation of the meeting from other countries so far.

In addition to Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan also took part in the meeting in New York.
The ceasefire between Israel and the Islamist Hamas is fragile. It remains to be seen how the next steps in the peace process can be implemented. These include the disarmament of Hamas.
