Following the arrest of Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, his party CHP is speaking of an attempted coup d'état. Turkey is currently experiencing "an attempted coup against the next potential president", said Özgür Özel, leader of the opposition party CHP, on television. Head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan knew that Imamoglu could defeat him in the next elections. Özel called on Erdogan and his party to reveal his role in the attempted coup.
