According to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Europe and Poland should be prepared for a possible major conflict with Russia as early as 2027. His government will make maximum use of the next two years to stabilize the situation in Poland and ensure security. Tusk announced this at a citizens' meeting in the town of Pabianice near Lodz, as reported by the PAP news agency.

The head of government referred to a similar assessment by the new NATO supreme commander Alexus Grynkewich, with whom he had spoken shortly beforehand. According to this, Russia and China could become so strong by 2027 that they would seek a coordinated confrontation with NATO and the USA.

When could Russia attack?

In view of Russia's war against Ukraine, various estimates are circulating among Western military experts as to when aggression could also be directed against other countries in Europe. So far, 2027 is the shortest deadline mentioned. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) is assuming 2029. The EU states are arming themselves and want to be in a position to fend off a Russian attack by 2030.

Russia is also expanding its armed forces. However, the Moscow leadership calls it nonsense that NATO territory should be attacked. The Russian newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda" recently turned the narrative around and insinuated that NATO intends to attack Russia in 2027.
