According to Lebanese reports, two people have been killed and at least one journalist injured in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the incident took place in the town of al-Tiri.

According to the Lebanese news agency NNA, two people were initially killed in an Israeli air strike in al-Tiri. The Israeli army announced that two vehicles had been identified that had come from a building used by the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia.

The statement referred to "terrorists" who had approached Israeli ground troops controlling the southern part of Lebanon in a threatening manner. The air force then attacked one of the vehicles. The building was then also shot at.

The army was aware of reports that two female journalists had been injured. According to the Lebanese reports, the journalists were employees of the Hezbollah-affiliated newspaper "Al-Achbar". One of them was reportedly still stuck on site.

The organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) called on the international community to exert immediate pressure on the Israeli army to enable the rescue of the Lebanese journalist. "Her life is currently in danger! Ongoing Israeli air strikes are preventing rescue workers from reaching her," the statement said.

The army denied claims that rescue teams had been prevented from reaching the area. The incident is being investigated. The area of the Israeli "security zone" is generally known. The Israeli army was not targeting journalists, but was also paying attention to the safety of its own troops.

Israeli soldiers are still stationed in southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire agreement. According to Israel, it has set up a so-called "security zone" there to protect the northern Israeli towns from Hezbollah attacks. The Lebanese leadership, on the other hand, speaks of an occupation of its territory.
