Two federal officers involved in the fatal shooting of US citizen Alex Pretti in Minneapolis have been suspended from their duties. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security confirmed this to the German Press Agency on request. This is a standard procedure in such cases.

US media recently reported on the first comprehensive official report from the security authorities on the fatal shooting of Pretti, according to which two federal officers fired shots at the 37-year-old at the weekend. The New York Times and CBS, for example, reported that first a Border Patrol officer and then a CBP officer fired at the nurse, citing an email with the preliminary investigation report sent by CBP to members of the US Parliament.

The fatal incident, captured on video, sparked outrage and protest in the city in the northern US state of Minnesota and across the country. According to the media quoting the report, there is no mention of Pretti reaching for his gun - although the US government initially gave this impression.
