According to Ukrainian reports, Russian soldiers have deported around 50 Ukrainians from the border region of Sumy in the north-east of the country to Russia. The Ukrainian human rights commissioner Dmytro Lubinez wrote on Telegram, citing preliminary information, that soldiers of the Russian armed forces had already captured around 50 residents of the village of Hrabowske on Thursday, held them without access to means of communication and appropriate conditions and deported them to Russia on Saturday. The information cannot be verified independently.

Lubinez stated that he had contacted the Russian human rights commissioner and the International Committee of the Red Cross. He appealed to the Ukrainians that it was dangerous to remain in the combat zone and that the evacuation was a chance to save themselves and their loved ones.
Ukrainian media reported, citing the military, that the majority of the 50 or so people were people who had previously refused to be evacuated to the interior of Ukraine. The military governor of the region, Oleh Hryhorov, wrote on social media that the evacuation from the border communities was continuing. Residents who had previously refused to leave the area had also been evacuated.
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian war of aggression for almost four years. The Sumy region has repeatedly been the target of Russian attacks.
