Ahead of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin on Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the foreign ministers of the EU member states are meeting for a special digital session. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas wants to discuss the next steps during the video conference this Monday. "Europe's core interests are at stake", she announced.

She emphasized that any agreement between the USA and Russia must include Ukraine and the EU, "because the security of Ukraine and the whole of Europe is at stake". Russia's aggression must not be rewarded; the temporarily Russian-occupied territories belong to Ukraine.

On Friday, Trump and Putin want to negotiate in the US state of Alaska about a possible peace solution in the Russian war of aggression that has been going on for around three and a half years. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj has not been invited.

Kallas appealed to the USA that it had the power to force Russia into serious negotiations. Pressure from the USA on Moscow could turn the tide of this war. Moscow would only stop when it felt that it could no longer continue.
