Eyewitnesses reported on social networks that the Grushovaya oil terminal of the Transneft energy company had caught fire. It is one of the largest oil storage facilities in the Caucasus with reservoirs underground and on the surface - including a transshipment point. The oil industry facilities in Novorossiysk, which are important for Russia's war economy, have already been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks.
Ukraine has massively expanded its drone attacks against targets in the Russian hinterland. This morning, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 348 drones were shot down during the night. This figure cannot be independently verified. As usual, the ministry did not provide any information on hits.
Damage reported from various regions
However, there were reports from authorities of damage as a result of drone attacks in several Russian regions, including Anapa on the Black Sea. In the Perm region, the authorities also reported an attack on an industrial plant. A fire is said to have broken out at a chemical plant there.
In turn, the Ukrainian air force reported 124 Russian drone attacks in the morning. According to the air defense, 102 flying objects were rendered harmless. As a result of the Russian attacks, twelve impacts by combat drones were recorded at nine locations and falling debris at five locations, it said.
More than four years after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, drone warfare now dominates the battlefield. On the ground, however, there are significantly fewer troop movements and changes than in the first years of the war due to the danger of attacks with the missiles. According to both sides, the fighting is at an impasse.
