The transportation hub of Pokrovsk in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk has once again been the focus of heavy fighting between Russian and Ukrainian troops. A total of 24 armed clashes were reported to the General Staff in Kiev by early evening, as the General announced on Facebook.

However, this time it was not the Russians but rather the Ukrainians who attacked, as army chief Olexander Syrskyj announced on Telegram. They managed to recapture six villages. "Despite the numerical superiority of the enemy, the units of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine fulfilled their tasks with honor," he wrote. "As a result of successful strikes and search operations, six settlements were cleansed and hundreds of Russian occupiers were destroyed." The information could not be independently verified.
A few days ago, the Ukrainian military increased its troop deployment around Pokrovsk in order to stop the steadily advancing Russian units. The city of Pokrovsk has already been largely destroyed in months of heavy fighting.
