According to a report by the Ukrainian military leadership, Russian air defense mistakenly shot down one of its own fighter jets. The aircraft was flying over occupied territory in the Donbass to drop guided glide bombs on Ukrainian positions when it was hit by Russian air defense missiles, "Ukrainska Pravda" reported, citing the air force command in Kiev.

Video footage of a downed Russian Su-25 fighter jet was also published. However, it was unclear whether this was actually the aircraft mentioned, which was shot down by Ukrainian troops.

According to a list in which the Ukrainian military publishes the alleged losses of Russian troops, Russia has already lost 368 aircraft since the start of the war over two and a half years ago. The data cannot be independently verified.
